    Default Parking sensors short range

Hi, I have a new dual head (v 8.8) set in my new car since few weeks. I already have had a v. 8.1 sensors in my old car until july 2010 so I can make some comparison.

I noticed that the range of parking sensors is very poor in my new setup. I can get some "beeps" only if the car is about 1/2 meter or less from a wall. In my old setup I usually got "beeps" even @ 2 meters from a wall

I checked the CPU settings and parking sensors sensitivity is "high" and the two heads have absolutely no obstruction in front of them (the new car is like the old one and install is exactly the same).

Some days ago I wrote a post about output light power of new sensors (please read: http://82.119.234.147/novili/smf/ind...14841#msg14841) and now I'm going to think that my new LI set can be affected by a some kind of problem regarding LDs.

I would like to know if other customers have this "short range" issue in parking mode. What is the max distance that make your sensors "beeps"?

    Thank you.....

    Rob,

Please keep in mind that the LI is NOT an accurate PA like the OEM PA available from the automobile manufacturers and as such, you should not expect the same sensitivity those device specifically designed as a PA offer. Our PA function is merely there to provide buyers, who live in areas where LCM are illegal, to use and demonstrate them as a PA.

Mine work about 18" to 24" from a white reflective wall. I would not put a lot of faith in the parking sensor mode, but they work perfect for my application. When they go off i know I am centered in the garage.

Thank you Cliff for your quick answer!

I'm perfecly aware that PA it's not the main purpose of LI, but if you consider that:

    a) I'm getting very different output power compared to old sensors (read http://82.119.234.147/novili/smf/ind...14841#msg14841)
    b) I'm getting a very short range in PA mode

lead me to suspect that something MAYBE faulty in my sensors because if output power is not 100% PA also will result reduced.

OP, I honestly don't care about that feature. It's not the purpose of jammers.

Maybe I didn't explained well my thought:

I don't care about PA, I don't use it and I have no interest in it. But huge reduced range in PA may indicate that my laser emitter doesn't work fine and therefore the jammer is not able to do its job. And this is what interest to me!

Testing is the only way you will know!! could be you got a weak head, or could be the original ones were just hot!!

    Rob,

There are variations in the Laser Diode that result in different sensitivity when in the PA Mode that does not affect the JAMMING capabilities. Feel free to send them in to me and I will be happy to test them for you if you are unable to get them tested yourself.

This is what I was used to get with my old LI setup. In my new LI set and into the same garage I get the first beep about 2" against the wall. I have AUDI parking assistance so I don't rely on LI to park the car but I would like to understand why it's so weak.

Have you tested them against lidar guns? That's what really counts, anything else is merely speculation.
