Driving home on the freeway this evening (it was almost dark) and I'm in the fast lane (as per usual) and driving slightly over the limit (as per usual) but with other cars around me when my new LI suddenly alerts.
So, I'd rehearsed the correct drill in my mind for this and I quickly braked and flicked off the LI power switch within a second or two. I got the "laser alert" tone and then just the female voice saying "traffic" which was abruptly truncated when I powered down the LI unit. For the record I was quite happy with my reaction time and my "speed on the draw" in this case.
However I then watched the sides of the freeway for the next thousand yards plus expecting so sight a LEO but I saw absolutely nothing - zip.
So my question to the forum is this - I'm still very new to these LI devices but I'm wondering if false alarms are common with them just like they are with radar detectors?
Could all of the traffic headlights on the other side of the freeway at the time have set it off? (one thought that I had).
BTW, it is quite possible that there was a well hidden LEO somewhere there and I just missed him.
