Default LI 7 vs 8 series

I have the older 7 series.

My question is with the new 8's can the user update the software?

What is the cost to upgrade to an 8 series? Do you need to trade in the orig 7's?

Yes, the main improvement of the Gen. 8 over the Gen. 7 is it is updateable by the user.

Gen. 8 CPU's are $200.00 and must be ordered via email or phone order from LI-USA. No trade-in required.

Just ordered mine from Cliff a couple of weeks ago. You won't regret it. User upgradeable and protection against the newer LIDAR threats. Cliff is top-notch!

Do you still need that special serial cable as well?

No, any USB to Serial adapter cable will work. Be sure it is compatible with your OS and you have the proper drivers and that your OS is up to date.

Thanks for asking this question - I've got the 7.11 and was wondering this myself....
