# Thread: Overpass shots = punch through?

1. ## Overpass shots = punch through?

We will most likely be shooting the vehicles from 2,500 feet out and under.

But lets say we shoot the car with whatever jammer at under 1,000 feet what do you expect to happen?

2. Hard to say...

it depends on the field dispersion (is that what it's called?) of the jamming diode or whatever. Some jammers supposedly use a convex lens to disperse the jamming light/signal wider up and down.

Supposedly Drivesmart tested their equipment under this kind of condition...

I thought the manufactures of these jammers were inclined (no pun intended) to orientate the LED/laser diode to maximize divergence in the horiontal...

Ill say punchthrough no matter what jammer at that range and angle, especially if the off-axis is in the vertical instead of the horizontal.

Whats the height of the overpass ?

4. I thought I put that but I guess not. About 25 feet

5. ONe more axis information is needed.

Is this 25 Feet up dead on?

Or is there a dimension to the off axis distance from the side of the road to factor in.

My guess:

1,000 feet out
100 feet off axis and 25 feet up on a bridge overpass
PUNCHTHROUGH. ( I could be wrong )

From 4-300 feet in or so I bet PUNCHTHROUGH..........

Basically I will be standing on the bridge in the middle of the North Bound side. We will prbably have a few runs where they are in the middle lane and directly facing me head on and then another where I am still in the middle and they are approching in the far left lane.

Have not gotten all the shots down to be done yet. I am thinking its gonna be close to punch through in this situation. Can't wait to find out.

 yep, u sure did. ops:

8. Okay then.
Still missing a demension:

1,000 feet out x axis (vehicle travel)
How far Y axis?

Z axis is the 25' overpass height!
Three dimensions in an over pass shot.

Technically every off axis is 5-6 feet high in the Z axis..person height.

9. What are you going to aim at... headlight/plate shots or center of mass shots... or roof shots

I guess punch through anywhere below 1000 feet.

10. Suf, judging by the description it sounds like the Y is going to be both 1 and 2 lanes, if shooting from the center lane.

EDIT: Oops, I must be tired. I believe its a 3 lane highway, so just 1 lane.
