Default SR7 Plus, Shifters behind Grille?

I'm installing the SR7 + in my Mercedes and I don't really want the front shifters visable. The grill is plastic with 7/16" holes throughout. I called Escort and they said it would reduce the range by 15-30%. Has anyone installed them this way or know if I would still get the shifting affect as I would if they were mounted in the open area of the front end.
    Thanks for your imput.

Well if you are sure there is no metal in the way then they should be almost as effective. I would say a 15% reduction in performance soulds about right.

It would result in your jammers not working at all!!!! DO NOT OBSTRUCT/BLOCK the jammer head anyway possible. This makes your jammer useless One shop I had install my blinders mounted them behind my gril and they did nothing...I immediately moved the jammer heads.

They can not be blocked at all!!!!!!

I have come to the conclusion that the led jammer heads should be flush with the forward most vertical surface of the vehicle if possible. This gives greater FOV and jamming capabilities.

OK so here is the deal thee is a large comunication error going on. You posted this in the jamming section but the SR7 is not a laser jammer it is a radar detector. if you got the SR7 plus that is a different story. If you could please tell us what we are dealing with i'm sure we could sort this out for you.

I have a similar situation, I have the SRX (basically SR7Plus) and I have an S-10. I can't firgure out any place EXCEPT the grill to put them. Here's some random 94 S-10 image I foung on craigslist that is pretty much exactly like my truck, except I have a black plastic grill instead of chrome.

I have the heads mounted flush to the top of the grill and sticking out of the grill, how will this effect performance

Sorry i didn't notice the + if you are using a jammer the head must be free of obstruction and must be level.
