Hi All,
Has anyone actually hooked up their control box via USB to the PC? It would be interesting to find out what happens?

I think the USB port is useless. Software upgrade it done via RJ45. Even the Cheetah wireless installation kit connects via RJ45, not USB.
How would they do it via RJ45? which port on the control box? And where did you get this info from?
The same port you plug your wire harness (switch, buzzer, LED, mute) into. This requires a special cable for software upgrades. Info from KMPH (LPP)

Correct. This port is the wrong type to plug into a computer.Originally Posted by nvr2fast
USB has a standard. YOU will fry your USB port if the voltage is not correct.
The jack that is on the AL/LPP control box is considered to be a master.
The voltage comes from the master to the client device. The AL/LLP control box would be considerd the client device. There for it should NOT have that type of connector. You will not find any standard cable from any retail outlet that will allow that type of connection because they know and follow the standard. The connetor on the Control box is normally reserved to only the back of a computer or USB hub. USB hubs have different connector (smaller) that it gets from the computer.
USB Standard
In the zip file find doc named ecn1-usb20-miniB-revd.pdf page number 86
in the graphic it will tell you that those connectors are for only downstream data flow.
By the LPP manual it is the RJ45 port that is the connector that will update the firmware.
But also Marko from AL has said he will not sell the cable to update the device.
Don't expect to get one anytime soon.
