Default AL8.0 False alert, Has anyone else had one?

Today I was driving down my main Highway and all of a sudden I got a Laser Alert (Jam Alert Tone) from my AL8.0.

There were no cars with their brake lights infront of me and no cars were behind me. I checked my mirrors, nothing, scanned the right and left of me, nothing. I drove back through the area again and no jam alert.

This is the first alert that I got without actually knowing where an officer was. It did not appear to go off due to a laser gun, nor a brake light.

Very odd for the AL8.0 i'd say.

Happened to me twice with the new control box.

This raises the question of is it really using a lookup table?

Glad to hear that it has happened to someone else. I wonder what exactly is setting it off.

Indeed... this sounds like behaviour of the V1, which only detects the right frequency, not a loopup table.

So could the AL 8 be responding to ANY signal at 904nm? It shouldn't have any chance to false alert, unless the sun or brake lights emulate the exact same pulses as a laser gun.... HIGHLY HIGHLY unlikely.

The laser mimic falsed a couple times and it uses a look up table, so I don't think detection falses is a good way to determine if it uses a look up table or not.

The mimic does have a generic jam feature like the blinder though. A better question would be does the G8's software now come with a generic jam/detection?

chuck a ferite coil on the data lead, this will stop any unwanted noise that may false the jammer....trust me it works, mine was falsing every couple days....now nothing

I thought all the thinking is done in the jamming head. Are you saying the control box is falsing and the jammer head is not?

I think for the AL G8 (and the LPP that derives from it), the logic is actually in the head.

The reason I come to this conclusion is that one of the forum members found the AL G8 would not jam LTI laser gun, so they got a replacement in-car box, and then it would jam.

He did not replace the jammer heads themselves.

So I conclude the data is actually stored in the in-car box.

The firmware is in the control box, not in the head. It's been discussed a few times already I think
