I know getting caught in Virginia with a radar detector amounts to a $95 ticket or something but what's the penalty for getting caught with a laser jammer?

Laser jammers are prohibited by the exact same law that radar detectors are:Originally Posted by Fractal

The fines would be the same:

Are they easy to detect? Has anyone had any success using them especially in the Northern Virginia area?
Ough ...passive .... still they have to proove it in court ... and if the case goes up to the proof ... bingo ...no more test will be necessarywith any device or mechanism, passive
Myself and Dgessler haven't had any problems yet. Dgessler even got ballsy and posted a video of him jamming a LEO in VA in the Video section. I you get a jammer, don't hit laser traps on purpose and be discreet as possible. Turn it off as soon as you slow down quickly. And if you get hit, don't slam your brakes on. Brake firmly and quickly, but don't make the braking look suspicous.Originally Posted by Fractal
And yes Jimbonzz is correct about the penalty for getting caught.
I want to use my V1, but am unsure on how to mount it. In LA I'd mount it in the center of my windshield up high. Is it safe to do that here? What do ya'll recommend? Thanks.
I've used my V1 (and a blinder) for a few years here in northern VA with no problems. Just mount the V1 high, preferably above a tint band so you can't see it from the front. Get the V1 remote display... it is a must, otherwise the cop will see it if he gets too close behind you. I got pulled one time and did not have time to take the V1 down, but the officer never saw it (no ticket either, as I knew he wasn't running his radar =). I'm working on a way to build it into my overhead console, but just haven't had the time lately.
I'm guessing the tint band doesn't interfere too much with the sensitivity?
Is the cord hanging down a problem at all?
Does mounting it that high reduce the sensitivity of the rear facing detector?
Thanks!!!
No it doesn't reduce the rear radar antenna it probably helps it outOriginally Posted by Fractal
As for the cord hardwire your V1 and use a concealed display so you will be totally protected...
Spoiler: show
Hardwire it? What does that mean, and how do I do it?
I can't wait to start using my V1 again!!!
