    Default How does this sound?

Well i called my dealership about get them to install my LPP dual heads, what they said is that they are not allowed to insall that item but they recomened a comapny that can. I called them they seemed very nice abut it. Thy even asked if i had my own jammer (which makes me think that they do this so often that they even sell jammers too). I asked the guy if i could be there for the instal he said "well that's a little wierd i've never been asked that before but i guess it's OK." I guess it shows that most are not crazy about this stuff like we are. Anyway he says that it s 75 bucks an hour for install and that it should take around 2 hours to install. Do you guys think this sounds legit? Also i have to wait two weeks to get the install they are fully booked.

Considering that it would be something fairly simple for someone to DIY I wouldn't pay $150 for it

    ^ And that's the question.

Also, remember, guys, for those of us who do not DIY-wrench/modify our vehicles, most shops - be it for mechanical/body work, electronics, or even outright modifications/upgrades - charge a "standard" number of working-hours so as to insure they make enough of a profit on every install to cover their overhead.

For example, a member on the BL/BP-chassis Legacy Forum that I frequent recently asked us about what we thought of his chosen shop charging X dollars (2 hours at Y dollars per hour) for the install of an exhaust component - and we all screamed that it was an outrageous amount that they'd wanted, plus that the install should take well less than 45 minutes, especially with the use of a lift and pneumatic tools.... That was until several well-known and unbiased tuning-shop owners -and one dealership sales rep. who was also an enthusiast- all chimed in to say that neither the dollar amount nor "time billed" was extravagant, due to just such shop-management and overhead reasons.

    ---

Considering the risks inherent in cutting the grill - and your desire for a clean install, going to a professional shop may not be a bad idea, particularly if this type of work is not something that you think you're capable of doing.

Ask around LOCALLY of some area car-clubs/enthusiast-clubs, to see if this shop has a good reputation for such installs. In so far as that they're willing to have you present in-shop as they work should speak well as to the potential of their work, but still, I'd ask around before I'd let anyone other than myself start hacking into my vehicle.

    Best of luck!
