Default AL 8 Guardian--would you buy

I have found the Crotian dealer for this well recommended jammer. You have to import the thing. Pretty expensive-350 euro and 70 euro to send by mail. then there is the thing of support. I just can't see putting this product into an US based car if there is no support. I wonder if others see it differently. Looks like I will go with the Blinder or Escort jammer.

Blinder is supposed to be coming out with a new one so you should wait and keep looking around

Lidatek has moved it's operations to the Netherlands, Blinder is originally from the Netherlands, but I'm sure it's only a coincidence..........

If you can wait, I'd sit-tight until GOL performs the highly-anticipated next round of testing, which is scheduled to be published some time this spring.

Blinder is rumored to have something new brewing, and due to their known-quantity in terms of customer service, I'd honestly recommend that if at all possible, you should await this new round of performance testing to be done before you plunk down your hard-earned cash.

It's hard to say what you should do - you'll need to weigh your needs for jamming by figuring out your local enforcement practices as well as hardware, versus your need for "peace of mind" regarding servicing and/or shipping/Customs.

    Default no servie

The equipment is made in croatia and sold out of the UK. If something goes wrong there is no backup or support. I just can't see buying the unit until there are dealers that install and support service. Irregardless of the cost-you are out of business the secone something goes wrong for the first time. That is the way I would see the issue.

^ If that is your primary concern, yes, the only way to go would be the two truly *authorized* Stateside-based items - Blinder or Escort.

The Escort system carries the advantage of excellent integration, especially if you are using a BEL/Escort detector or plan to upgrade to a complete remote system, such as the SRX/SR-7 plus Shifters.

The Blinder system carries with it better performance, particularly if you're in a larger vehicle and use the M30 or M40 setup - but the trade-off is mounting concerns, both aesthetic as well as in terms of discretion.

The major advantage of each of these would be the Stateside support. In your case, since that seems to be of high concern, I would recommend having the unit installed at an authorized shop - thereby minimizing potential warranty/service claim concerns. Here, again, I'd emphasize the word "authorized," be sure that this is the case of the retailer of the component as well as the installation shop (Escort, for example, has recently required using authorized professional installation of their remote jammer/detector products for valid warranty claims, and this of course extends to the purchase as well).

The major disadvantage of any of the current LED-based systems is of course the possibility of both longer-range as well as short-range punch-throughs, both of which have been documented extensively. This becomes important particularly if your local enforcers prefers short-range engagements.

Similarly, none of these LED-based systems can be said to provide for sufficient rear-on protection/coverage.

These are the issues you must balance - outside of price - but from your latest post, it would seem that you've already reached a decision.

Dont forget about the duty/taxes and brokerage fees you will pay when your jammer showes up from europe, its pretty steep.

I'd say if you can wait it out untill the GOL testing is done this spring you'll be much better informed and better off as if the rumours are true and blinder has a better product then that may well be the best bet for you.

If you cant wait do some research in here. More than enough infor on the LPP and antilaser to help you make a sound decision.

This will depend if we can obtain legit retail units to test. We do not have the funds to buy them so members might have to let us use their own personal ones
