I read the sticky above but didn't see anything to answer my question in light of an experience I had this weekend.
I'm 100% sure they are yet even though it's my civic duty to stay abreast of changes in the law, sometimes I miss something.
I checked the GOL site again this morning and it still shows they are but I know those guys can get busy and updating the site can take awhile. Looked around the Tx legislation sites but didn't see anything.
The reason I ask this is, this weekend I took the car in to get some minor electrical work done. Didn't feel up to doing it (just moved) and I don't have my tools. So, I would have spent the same amount buying new tools than to just have them do it.
ANYWAY, me and the tech started chit chatting and my DIY Blinder install came up. He goes, "Oh, haven't been caught yet?" and proceeded to tell me the LJ's are illegal here. I said, "Nope, they are legal, just Radar Jammers are illegal here" and he kind of gave me this, "Ok, whatever dude, Laser Jammers are illegal" kind of look and went on about his business. I mentioned that yeah, you can get an obstruction ticket if you get caught but they are not themselves "Illegal". He mentioned they had a guy come in where they confiscated his equipment and told him they were illegal (again, this could just be heresy, who knows).
I was suprised as this place is the top one or two spots in town for installing electronics in cars and are an authorized Escort dealer.
Probably just some new guy who wasn't up on the regulations but it made me second guess if I was the one that was wrong.
I know in Texas big law changes like that happen every year at the first of September--does anyone know of any upcoming changes that would affect us LJ users?
Thanks and sorry for the long rant of ignorance, hah hah...
