Keep them coming guys awesome job!!!
RIP Duncan my BELOVED black lab son 8/7/99-3/23/11. I will miss you DEARLY.
LET THE BIRTH OF MANY TESTING GROUPS HAPPEN!
You want to know what it is like doing something for the love and passion and not for the mighty dollar then look up GOL!
Nice! What model camera did you use for the shoot?Originally Posted by IRCMUSA
Seemed like the Blinder was alot brighter and wider. Just a novice question. Wouldnt tha amout to the new blinder heads being able to jam better and more than the LPP?
Yes! Brightness does not always count. What good is an intense tightly focused beam straight down the road ahead, if the officer is 20 degrees off to the side. Or what good is a countermeasure if it fails to detect the threat at all? Good pointsOriginally Posted by IRCMUSA
I'll get into the brightness discussion. The "brightness" as we see it through the use of an IR camera means nothing in terms of jamming capability.
LEDs in general have a slower rise and fall time than laser diodes. The pulse from a laser diode is usually 20-50 nanoseconds in duration, while an LED's pulse is, in general, many times that.
So, the LED's are "ON" longer for a greater percentage of the time, and thus might appear "brigher". Even though a laser diode will have many times the peak power of several LED's, the pulse is much shorter, appearing less bright.
Its the peak power that matters, and all the laser gun is concerned with is the rise/leading edge of the pulse, which is why the LED jammers can even jam at all.
Agreed. The point I was making is that if the jammers optics prevented it from hitting the Lidar gun because it was too narrow, then all the power in the world would not matter. Most Lidar shots out here seem to be from the 500' range, about 15 degrees off axis, so there does need to be a somewhat broad optical beamwidth to cover these encounters, rather than sheer raw power.Originally Posted by jimbonzzz
thanks jim for clearing up my novice question! I love this website and i lover learning new things that way i can spread the information to other un-informed people.Originally Posted by jimbonzzz
