Does engine heat affect lidar range

Does anyone know if engine heat, or heat in general can affect lidar range?
I was playing with my newest toy (Osprey) and it seemed like i could laser the rear of vehicles much easier than the front. As in i could laser a small compact car from the rear, easier than a larger vehicle from the front.

I was wondering if the heat coming off the engine could diminish the effective range of lidar in anyway, or not.

Engine heat is no factor in lidar range.
Heat in general could influence range, because heat influences the atmosphere. (turbulence, humidity) This is all very theoretical, I don't think it really matters. The rear of vehicle is (normally) a much easier target than the front. (reflectors, licence plate, shape)

Heat radiation is not the same infrared as the 'near infrared' light used by laserguns. (You will have to set fire to your car to get closer :twisted: )
