Default Good Jammer/Detector on Low Budget?

Hey guys i'm pretty new here so bear with me if you've heard this a million times (i'm sure you have), i just can't find a thread like this after an hour of searching...

I am a college student, which means limited $. I would like to get a reasonable radar/laser detector and some form of laser protection. I have been looking at the Beltronics Vector 955 for detecting, and it looks like the cheapest reliable jammer would be the M-25? Would this kind of setup be worth the money? Or is there a better combination out there? Being in school, its not really a situation where saying "pony up for a $600 jammer" is really feasable. I was thinking about some veil too, but this forum seems to be divided on how effective it is. Any thoughts would be tremendously appreciated, each day is just a speeding ticket waiting to happen...

Oh and i'm driving a black '05 accord

Hey there, welcome to the site.
The V955 looks pretty good from what I've read and I know it'll be good becuase its a Bel haha. But you may want to find out if laser is even used in your area first before you decide getting a jammer, you might not even need one. No point in spending $400+ on jammers when lasers not even used in your area, and if its not you can put that extra money into one of the top line detectors like a V1/9500I/STI
If you do know that laser is indeed used in your area or for some other reason you just really want a jammer I'd recomend a LI just because it has a good price for a dual head setup, don't go towards blinders....if anything I'd say escorts ZR3 whitch goes for 350 for 3 heads (2 up front, 1 rear is recomended) and it will serve you well if your in an area that mainly uses PL3s.

The V995 is a good detector. What D4d said about laser is good as well. Check to make sure it's an issue before you worry over it.

Truthfully I see little value to the Blinders. They get such terrible punch-through (distance a laser can strike successfully) that you might as well just save the money. So far the M25 and M45 units are awful. If you can find M20s that would be much better and may be worth the funds.

A dual-setup LI goes for around 620-700 depending on the value of the dollar vs Euro. That may be outside your budget.

thanks for the info yall. yeah i got ticketed via laser a few months ago (and now the next time i get a ticket i will be paying much more money for insurance than i would like) so i know georgia employs laser at least in medium sized residential areas.

I stayed up way too late last night poking around here but i think another option

the way my car is set up (its black, not white) there are few reflective areas, since i do not have any kind of license plate in front. i have read that Veil provides a few seconds of stopping time with an adequate laser detector at 1000' and possibly closer. I would be using any kind of laser protection for use on the highway, since i'm not longer comfortable (or able, with traffic) to speed in my hometown or college town. If i got something like an rx65, or maybe an 8500 would this work as well as i am thinking it would?

You won't need just Veil. It will help -a little-, but you will need to go through a full stealthing process for that. Replace your light covers, anti-IR coating on all chrome, Veil over everything reflective. If you can, I'd suggest getting a replacement plate too. I just purchased one of those cr8apl8 plates for my front to help with laser.

If in your area are using only laser guns, the only choice you have is to get a very good laser jammer. It's the only thing that will protect you,
It's better to give some money more to get something good that will be useful and not to give less and get $hit

Oh man, I just read your post and you said that your in georgia
Your going to need maximum protection in the jammer part, they're pretty well equiped check out some of the laser guns they use there:

Georgia - LTI Ultralyte, Laser Atlanta, Pro Laser III, Kustom Prolite

They have laser atlanta over there!! Your deffinatley going to have to look into either a LI or dual LPP, forget blinders and the ZR3 they will do you no good against LA all the officer will see is a bunch of jam codes...

I mean I'm pretty sure the LPP and LI probably throw up codes occasionaly but not nearly as much as the blinders/zr3s but its already been proven codes can be caused just by aiming + shooting the gun at still objects :?
I'd recomend the LI because they only come with dual head and go for about 550 US I belive
LPPs are awesome too from what I've read around here, they cost a good bit more to get a dual head though and your going to need dual heads..
