Yes after shooting the PLIII myself over the last several days in both City and Interstate locations I am not as concerned about rushing to kill it either. I would say 5% of those I shot at I did not get a reading, but they showed no evasive action like they had a jammer. It was about as typical to target a vehicle for 2-3 seconds before getting a reading as it is to get an instant reading.
I have yet to even target someone who had a radar detector so I imagine jammers are really quite rare outside the enthusiest arena.
I did however get one guy doing 49 in a 30 last night only to look back further and see a car closing in on him. I got him at 59 in a 30 and then watch him pull over the first car. I got a LEO speeding.

I would argue to not rush to kill the jammer so much as make an applied effort to get down to the speed limit quickly but smoothly to limit nose dive then kill the jammer in a controlled manner. If your on top of your alerts you should be able to slow, then kill the jammer in less than two seconds unless your into triple digit speeds.
I've never had a laser hit over 100 mph so I can't testify to performance under that kind of pressure. A laser strike of less than 1000 ft would probably panic me pretty good.

I'd say I've had 4 situations where I didn't even have enough time to slow down. So I was still over the PSL while passing the LEO... that's just how close they shoot at us here in Ohio. (Less than 600 feet easily)
Yes. I've shot a lot of lidar guns. I fully understand your point. Depending on what gun you use, there are definitely some instances like what you are describing. Usually though, readings are almost instantaneous. As long as I have a clear line of sight and a favorable shooting angle, no car gets past me without me getting its speed.
When I was shooting the PL3 it was acquiring speeds pretty much as fast as I could hit the trigger @ maybe 1000 ft. The Ultralyte LTi was not remotely as quick.

I see almost nothing but Ultralytes and PLIIIs. PLIIIs get a very quick reading on almost everything. The Ultralytes are not as quick, but still pretty good. My biggest fear is that experienced PLIII toting LEO that knows pretty quick that something is up.
