    Default Wrap around light protection

Which would work better, a film or a spray on application like this: HOW-TO Custom Tint Your Maxima tail lights!: Maxima Forum & I30 / I35 Forum: Nissan Forums / Infiniti Forums - NICOclub

I want to protect my headlights from extreme off axis/angle shots, and they wrap around which makes it hard for the laser protect it. Any suggestions would be welcome!

Neither one. You want a product that filters and/or attenuates IR light, not UV light. Veil is the only product I know of that will do that. However, any area of reflection that you cover up with paint is a positive thing.

Off axis shots typically catch you on your cornering lights and wrap around headlights. You can't really paint either one of those and them still work.

That stuff has nothing to do with police counter-measures, rear laser hits, it's just to make your car look sexier, that's it!

VEIL is what you're looking for, apply it over your headlights and/or fog lights, my case, and over the taillights if your LEO's enjoy targeting your a$$

OK so gts covers in the day even flat primered or painted reflectors aint goin to work as good as veil basically? so veil would be best results than anything else?? i thought at least if you painted the sides and ya they wont shine ever again painted, it would be better at least the same as the cars paint job at least on a side off axis shots or ambush..

Again, painting something black is great. But that's not what I understood OPTiK to be asking about. he's talking about some kind of tinting. And I can't really figure out from the pictures exactly what that modification is all about. Whatever it is, it doesn't look like anything is being blacked out. And you can't black out your headlights, cornering lights, or reflectors.

If you want to absorb IR, you need VEIL... VEIL is the only product that does this, it works on the spectrum of the light, it isn't UV but IR as SS mentioned above...
Now, making something less or none reflective is a different story...

Sorry guys I didn't make my post clear enough. The tinting that these guys are doing is something that I would consider since I do have a small weakness with my tail lights. Except veil won't be enough because its a design issue (reflective) with the fixture. I was wondering if tinting it via the method used in the link, or a cutout would help with stealthing my rear taillights, following the whole black is hard to laser logic.

In terms of the front corner lights, I'd have to rely on veil. I'm just trying to close all holes for my setup since the blinder has a hard time protecting when the laser is coming at an angle equal to or greater than 90 degrees (perpendicular to the head). Granted this is not something that I would encounter in real world situations, but it is possible depending on the angle of the ambush.

Unless you want to go near-opaque, VEIL works better than anything that will allow a comparable amount of visible light to pass through.

Remember, even if your tint is on the heavy side and there's a lot of visible light attenuation, that may or may not mean that there's a same level of IR being cut, and to the LIDAR, it's IR that matters.

Unless you turn the area totally opaque - with nearly no light passing through, such as with the "off-road only" GTS or other such branded aftermarket headlamp/tail-lamp covers (whose effect was demonstrated by brother alpinestars on his "Satty of Death"), think of such enhancements as more aesthetic only, and *_potential_* LIDAR-effecting, otherwise.

Don't go into such projects thinking that you're going to get better protection than VEIL, unless you find some kind of paint/film formulation that also specifically cuts IR in the wavelengths where police LIDAR occupy.

And in terms of "reflective," again, covering it with some kind of semi-transparent/translucent paint versus VEIL simply follows the very same logic - unless you're thinking about truly making that area opaque and/or "de-reflectorizing" (search for posts by Fulcrum - he pursued this method on his Alfa, also further pursuing a brake-light kill-switch as well, to combat rear-LIDAR enforcement in his area [Europe]).

^ NP. Just glad to help.

I'm a fan of the tinted look, myself - as long as it's not so dark as to negatively impact (no pun intended ) safety.
