Default Disable Laser Detection on RD?

With the new filtering update on the blinder mx7 series, falsing has been dramatically cut down.. to the point where my v1 is now the annoying falser. Do you guys disable the laser alert on your RD's once you have a LJ in place? I'm thinking about doing it, just trying to figure out the positives/negatives. I can't really think of any big negatives aside from possible missed scatter. Discuss!

To take the idea a little farther, I have long advocated removing laser detection from RDs altogether to simplify them and bring costs down. Not to mention we'd get a lot less pissed of n00bs who are disappointed that their RD didn't save them from laser, like they thought it would.

So far I've left mine on. I figure it's good for situational awareness:

    1. If the RD alerts before the jammer, then I know I picked up scatter, or the LEO has bad aim.
    2. After I JTK and shut off the jammer, I'll know how much longer the LEO was firing.
    3. My V1 can detect rear laser, which my jammer and visor-mounted Redline can't.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

That would be great. I completely agree.

My V1 cannot detect rear laser very often due to my mounting position. I have been able to get it to alert a few times by battering the back of my car with LIDAR and eventually it goes off at some stage but its not a realistic scenario considering how fast rear laser works in the real world.

I definitely agree with the first 2. I have had a scatter detection once which wasnt a save but I was impressed nonetheless...

..and I do like the fact that the V1 can keep you informed as to when a LEO gets your speed after you kill the jammers also .

The prospect of having a "scatter save" diminishes as the desensitization to false laser alerts increases.

In other words, what's the point of having it on if you are just going to ignore the alerts, attributing it to an Infinity. The only thing I'd see it being useful for would be kpatz's number 2 on the list.

Personally I keep my V1 on as the first alerter. Unfortunately for me I don't have an external speaker for my LI so when I am driving with windows down music turned up The V1 is the only thing I can hear. If I hear a laser alert i mute the stereo to listen for the LI alert

Additionally I guess I am lucky that where I drive there aren't that many infinities

I also have very few things that cause laser falses here. I have had just one unexplained false to date where I was following a VW Polo out a country road and I got a laser alert on the V1 but not the LPP.

All the other previous falses were when the LPP was hooked up to a dodgy power supply in my car and it was alerting/jamming whenever I tried to accelerate and the RPMs went over 3900 but that was solved long ago.

I also have noticed my V1 is louder than my jammer. When I had my window down once last year during a save, I only heard the V1 and not the LPP (despite having the radio mute hooked up) so its handy that way also.

I can imagine if there were loads of cars with LCC here, I would be pissed off from it by now but so far so good and almost 100% of laser alerts have been real to date so I will definitely be keeping it on.

#2 is not reliable. During the mid-atlantic test, when rob was hitting me with the truespeed my v1 barely went off. I also have my v1 behind a tint strip which might hinder its laser detection, but it showed me that an RD picking up laser is not a guarantee. Also, knowing when the LEO has stopped targeting is nice, but do you really need to know once you passed him? Just turn your jammer back on and you'll know
