Importance of jammer heads being level
I know how important it is for jammer heads to be installed level from all the installation instructions etc. Is it that they need to be level in relation to each other or to the ground/roads or both?
As for being level to the ground/road I've been always curious since aren't many roads have some tilt towards the outer shoulder for drainage purpose as well as naturally irregular in degrees regardless of how new they are as well as there will be certain tilting of the vehicle itself from the suspension? I can't see the jammer heads being exactly level and pointing straight(?) every time in relation to the source of laser beam. Handheld laser gun being perfectly level also would be difficult as well.
I would of course mount the heads as level and straight as possible in relation to each other and to the ground but I'm simply curious?

Re: Importance of jammer heads being level
Stickies FTW. Question #17 in the FAQ.
Ideally, and theoretically, they should always be level in relationship to the laser gun being shot at them. Until someone comes up with gyro controlled jammer heads, that's not going to happen, so it's a moot point.
That not being possible, the best you can do is to maximise the attitude of the heads to best serve all potential encounter angles. The truth is, you never know whether you're going to be going uphill, downhill, or being shot from an overpass. All are possible. So the best way to hedge your bets is to have them perfectly levelled with the road and vehicle itself. There will be extreme encounters where it might have been better if they had been pointed up by ten degrees. But aligning for the "what if" scenarios doesn't play the odds well.

Re: Importance of jammer heads being level
I haven't mounted my heads yet, just the interior wiring. But I have read nearly all of the jammer post in here. I still wonder why you would not till the heads a little off axis to the outside since all I see in vids the LEO is always on the side of the road.

Re: Importance of jammer heads being level
I think you have a valid point there. Certainly one that I maintain we need to test extensively before we dismiss it outright.
Like I said, you want to be prepared for the most likely common scenario, which would be an officer on the side of the road, not in the middle of it. But again, you have to be prepared for those straight on shots too, rounding turns and overpasses. I think ultimately the question is exactly what degree of offset would be ideal to cover your off-axis wraparound and your centre mass.
But for levelling, level with the road is going to be ideal.

leveling of the heads is a MUST. We had a guy come to our shootout last week with a LI not properly leveled and the only gun he JTG'd was the PL3.
Anyone with a flashlight can jam a PL3.
