Hey guys, just got an LTI 20/20 ticket tonight, that will be my 2nd or 3rd laser ticket here in NJ. I only have a bel rx65, with laser turned off because of falses in the sun and general uselessness of the feature on this detector. So I'm looking into laser countermeasures and im thinking how to make the heads as inconspicuous as possible. Then I'm thinking well, I don't have a front plate, and the only chrome or reflective part on the front of my car is the chrome headlight housings. So I'm thinking why not do 2 for 1 and mount the laser heads in the headlights for maximum jamming at the point where the cops would most likely aim, and at the same time have it be very stealth? Well I know that a laser jammer isnt worth anything without the cpu or brain that detects laser shots and implements an appropriate jamming algorithm. So how complicated can the laser head possibly be? An IR photodetector and an IR laser diode? Well I know that sometimes people are known to use a different brand head with their cpu, no? So what do you guys think would be involved with making a home made laser head? I'm thinking, obtain some IR diodes with maybe even higher power and similar specs as those in common laser jammer heads, and mount those laser diodes in my headlight housing. It would probably make sense to mount the detector diodes in another place to avoid interference from the headlight when it is on. This would be easy though because photodiodes are as small as a singal LED and are cheap, thus they can be mounted discreetly as well and can be plentiful so to be sure to pick up the incoming laser signal. You could place a few in the grill, a few lower in the bumper, two in the screw holes for the license plate, etc.
What do you guys think?
