    Default Transceiver question

Can a laser jammer's transceiver ever reduce the power output it emits?

The reason i ask is because i can noticably see with my phone camera that the one transceiver emits much brighter than the other.

well, i don't have a definite answer for you, but here's my observations which may help.

On my Blinder i noticed that having the camera at an angle other than even and level with the receiver would cause it to not appear as bright. you can see that if you move the camera up and down a bit.

Also i just looked at some night shots i did a ways back and noticed that the blinder seemed to "fade" on and off, as opposed to instantly either turning on and off. i could see when i panned the front of my vehicle. the camcorder was stationary on a tripod.

now this was done with an Osprey. i plan on doing some night shots with my LTI at some point to compare.

try holding the camera and tester at the same distance and angle to see if they look even.

    I would say no.
But, it does of course vary the pulse rate, which might make it appear brighter, depending on how the jammer is triggered. Sometimes, using a tester will trigger an alert on the jammer, but does not cause to to fire normally. Generally the jammer will try to recognise the gun via an internal lookup table. If the pulses it receives do not correspond to a known laser gun, it it possib le the firing might appear erratic.
