I'm looking into supplementing the emitters in a system to increase my odds. The LED's Ive looked at so far are 850mn and 950nm. The 850's have almost no energy at 904nm, and the 950nm ones are only making about 20% power at the 904nm wavelength. Are there some specific emitters that I should be looking at ? Laser, or otherwise ?
I am assuming that the lidars guns are using a band pass filter on the detector to greatly improve the SN ratio, and these do have a very sharp cutoff, of only 10 or 15 nm bandwidth.
My plan is to tap a drive signal off of one of the existing led emitters, and drive the supplemental ones with a power mosfet of sufficient switching speed.
I do have a solid state IR pump laser rated at 17 watts that I got surplus a while back, and if I mounted that in the middle I am sure just the shear lens flare from it's output would cover me, but it would be a danger to the public, much more so that the old brute force units they used to sell.
