First off I will start by saying that I've had my LI's now for about 6 months. Before today I had yet to jam anything (although I have tested my setup with my Marksman). I've seen plenty of lidar being used but I never seemed to be the one getting shot. Most the time I feel like I see the LEO and have already slowed down.
Anyway tonight was strangely perfect. For some strange reason I cleaned my jammer heads before leaving work. They were covered in salt and although they have been for the past two weeks for some reason I cleaned them tonight. On the way home through a urban area I get a laser alert from the V1. It goes off for about 1.5-2.5 seconds before I get anything out of the LI. LI responds with ______Pro Laser 3 _____ don't know what the ____ are so maybe people can fill me in with all the excitement I only made out the PL3 speech. Anyway, as I am slowing down to PSL I see the LEO and his PL3 He must have hit me from about 500ft or less and I only killed it within 50 feet of him. It was an unintentional JTG basically.
I was fine and just rolled on by, but I guess it made me wonder a few things.
1) Why did the V1 respond way earlier? I was the only possible target btw so scatter is unlikely.
2) Do you think I actually jammed? At that range I don't know if the reason I didn't get an alert sooner was because the beam was too small to be acknowledged by the LI. I could have slowed down enough just from the V1 alert since I wasn't that far above PSL.
3) What was the LEO doing out of his car when it is 3 Degrees outside?
4) Does the LI begin jamming before it alerts?
Thank I'm still excited!
