Put a coat of automobile wax on it but don't take it off. Cover with clear license plate cover and use. Flash light to see spots missed.

why not just make a high quality photo copy of the front plate and laminate it...
I want to 'help' my rear plate, I don't have a front plate installed.
In CA, front plate is mandatory but they don't enforce, except for city parking areas.
A photocopy would be flat, and would not pass a quick visual.
I like the dried on wax idea, " I must have forgot to wipe it off last time I waxed the car".
Even repainting the white areas with 'metallic' paint would help immensely, eliminating the retro-reflective properties that make it so easy to read with laser.
I wish someone would tell me how much veil coating blocks the return light off of a plate. Eerie silence makes me think 'not so much' with my question
on the veil thread.
Somebody in The Netherlands developed a Veil-like coating, but the formula of his coating worked a lot better.................
These two pictures show the same licenseplate one shot in visable light and the other in (near) infrared light. As you can see the coated part of the plate is almost totally black for IR.

I did a test on this plate with my laserguns. The plate had (almost) zero reflection. The fun thing is that the coating is almost invisible, nobody will suspect that you use it.............
I have no idea if this coating will become a commercial product.

Wow ! I'd love to see some of the veil product dabbed onto a similar retro plate to compare.
Perhaps the NL guy uses more active ingredients in that coating.
Veilguys youtube video shows veil on a plate cover vs 3M clear duct tape. Its near the end.

Naw, I want to see the veil coating alone, without the help of the laser shield product.
Or Veil on some of the non-effective 3m tape, or some other non IR blocking substrate over the pate.
Kind of obvious what really needs to happen to characterize the veil product with regards to the reto reflective plate.
BTW, a friend of mine committed suicide a couple of years back. It didn't really work out for him. Just sayin.
