Default Paint license plate non-retro reflective?

Anybody try painting their white retro reflective plates with daylight matched non retro metallic paint?
Shining a light at the rear of my c6 vette from a distance really shows it's 'weakness' as far as retro reflective hot spots ( 4 tail lights centers and plate ) I'd guess these are about 80% of returned light.

How much does veil attenuate when a retro plate is treated ?

I think this question's for engineers...

I do have a can of photoblocker spray I never used. I think it makes the plate more reflective, not sure though. I've looked at different plate covers too, but lost interest after buying a jammer.

    Here's an answer:

Don't bother. If jammers can't protect against the plate, get LIs. You need to know that you can get a speed reading off of any part of the car, not just the plates/tails.

Painting over your plates is illegal. I also I do not suggest veil on plates since it makes them look crappy and would also be considered as tampering with your state issued plates. A plastic cover may or may not be legal based on your state, and there are some specifically designed to scatter light in the 904nm range.

ALSO don't worry I'm an engineer so this is a legit answer. LOL

No really I am an engineer, just not a PE (not yet at least).

All I did was buff it off with a light sand paper and the used another buffer with a soft rag to clean it up. No more reflection. Took sometime but it works.

Why would you thing I'm a cop ? Because I ask some tech questions ? Sheesh.
Anyhow, I have an extra front plate from a car I had, so I can try some things on it.

Reducing the reflection would be a huge gain, I'd bet the reflection from my plate is 3X the energy reflected back to the gun as compared to the rest of the back of my silver Vette. Ever shine a laser pointer at the back of a car from 200 yards ? You will see what I mean.
