I live in central NJ, close to the shore. I've had my Escort Passport X50 for over a year now - never had a laser hit... that is, until last week! I received two laser hits in one day! The first on the Garden State Parkway near Exit 83 (Rt. 37, Seaside) and the second in the shore town of Point Pleasant Beach!!!! It seems LIDAR has finally made it to central NJ.
After some research, I've decided to go Diode over LED and purchase the Lidatek Dual System. I intend to ask that they increase the fire timer to 8 - 10 seconds. I hope they'll comply.
This brings me to my questions. What is the best possible way to mount my two Lidatek transponders? I own an '05 Mustang GT. That means I have FOUR headlights. Two fogs in the grill and two headlights on either side of the grill. Being that this is NJ, I also have a front plate. Luckily, my grill is dark plastic, so no reflection there, and my car is black. I will include a picture of the front end of my car at the end of this post.
With so many target areas on my car, would it be prudent to purchase a third transponder for my car? Perhaps.
Also, are the Lidatek transponders sealed against the elements? I won't have to remove these things every time I wash my car or it rains, will I?
Here's the pic of my front end:
As you can see, the lower open end beneath my license plate is an option, but I have a feeling that is too low.
Ideally, I want to place two transponders on the bottom of the grill next to the fogs and the third directly above the license plate. What do you guys think? Your experience and knowledge is needed!
