This is kinda on-topic, but what happens to you if you are stopped with a unit installed in the car, but it is not active? The laws I have read allow confiscation if the unit is in the passenger cabin, even if it is off. So theoretically if you are stopped for some reason and the officer notices the jammer, he can take it from you, even if that means taking apart the car to get at it.
Anyone know of this happening?
Since I drive through Oklahoma from time to time and it has a jammer ban I researched this question a little bit.
Apparently with some variation the most consistent story was this. The car is not legal to drive on Oklahoma highways so it can't be driven there. If they find me driving it in the state with or without the jammer armed, and I'm not a resident of Oklahoma it's a $100 fine, no points. If I was a resident of Oklahoma then the car could conceivably be impounded until the unit was removed or deactivated.
The Tulsa PD guy that told me this part said it would have to be a very pi$$ed off trooper to do that. Impounding cars is a ton of paperwork and it's on the officer to follow up on the removal-deactivation and all that. Which he thought would be very unlikely since jammers don't work.

Well, I'm going to have a fancy parking sensor then.![]()
has anyone actually TRIED that "It's a parking sensor" line on a cop in a banned area yet??
I'm dying to know if that stands up in court. :P

"But officer, I don't understand. you were shootin laser beams at me and my car automatically took evasive actions and returned fire?? Excuse me sir, but have you been drinking tonight?"
"But but but...! What's that right there??!! See that? That's a laser jammer!!!"
"Officer, you're clearly grasping for anything to justify your version of reality... that's just my parking sensor so I don't hit the garage door.... Look, here's the manual......"
Somehow I just don't see that scenario ending well for me... :P
i havent been pulled over for jamming yet and i dont particularly want to be either so i always slow down ASAP and switch the LPP off.
i cant imagine the job of explaining the parking sensor story to a LEO would be too pleasant anyway so i hope i never have to![]()
