Actually, just swapping out the "heads" does magically incorporate the 'double-pulse' ability as the transceivers themselves are the only operational part of the equation. The 'brain' and interface are merely there to connect the transceivers to the display and control panel. Also to clarify again, the SR7 never had "shifting" ability in the first place. Hence the incompatibility of the ZR4 transceivers with the SR7 platform.
Oh and thirdly, the Shift+Link cable terminology only applies to a combination of the ZR4 and a windshield mounted detector such as our 9500i or 8500 X50 models. If you are adding a ZR4 or it's transceivers to a SRX or SR7+ system already installed in a vehicle, they will connect directly to the master interface of the system. There is nothing to "link" the ZR4 to.
If you have anymore questions feel free to ask, but it sounds like you might have just had some misinformation presented to you.

I have a hard time believing the response I have received. For one
the zr4 description says it is shift+link compatible with SR7(not
SR7+/SRX). Secondly, swapping the shifter heads out of my SRX with
the new ZR4 heads is not going to magically incorporate ZR4's
'double-pulse' technology, as it is not on my current SRX's firmware.
Is firmware upgrade available for the SRX for the new heads, I mean
I'm not going to spend almost $500 for new SRX heads if it doesn't
incorporate the ZR4's technology.
