    Default Any benefit to ZR4?

I had my own experience, posted on this forum, getting owned at close range. Based on the comments in this forum, and the GOL test, the ZR4 appears useless (not just less effective than Blinder of LI). It that is the case, common sense dictates that Escort would pay attention to these comments and address product shortfalls.

    Any thoughts?

Most people buying jammers know nothing about jammers. Escort is a big time radar company so buyers just trust they work. On a small black car with veil, the zr4 is respectable but not dependable for 20+ over saves on a consistant basis.

If you got a small car and you have done some testing with it the ZR4 will not be totally useless

You need to remember that the last GOL event only allowed 2 heads on the front of the car. Pretty much for every Laser Diode head you need 2 LED jammer heads. GOL should have tested it 4 LED heads to 2 diode heads

Or the correct way is set a base price like $700 from both company so you can see how much performance $700 will get you

I have dark blue BMW 328i. I had same color in my last 3 series with a ZR3 and never got a laser ticket.

Well if you are confident in the ZR3/ZR4 go ahead and use it. Please remember that the rear shifter head offers no jamming performance whats so ever so you will not be safe against rear laser shots

Personally though if you are looking at purchasing a new ZR4 at retail price I would feel much better knowing that you had a Blinder M27 on your vehicle

Others explained this very well above, and my testing with some guns has been fine.

    2 issues.

1- Escort gets very few reports of there jammers not working. Though tests show different why change anything if there customers aren't complaining/calling. That's why the last change only benefited jam codes and not performance.

2- They also subscribe to the old school thought that you only need a few seconds to slow down and scatter from another vehicle ahead may give you warning. (this is not the case everywhere anymore, like your encounter)

A car with a low lidar signature + good install = ZR4's are fine.

If you can test your setup and tweak for maximum effectiveness, even better.

But if you have a white Escalade with lots of chrome, ZR4's will indeed be "useless".

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the difference between a LED (light emitting diode) and a diode?

I have the ZR4 installed in my current BMW and got owned at close range. After that, and reading comments on the forum, I asked original question. I had plans to replace or supplement my ZR4 with an LI QUAD.
