    Default Escort ZR3 question...

I've been wondering about this situation. When using the Escort ZR3 with the 8500 x50, does the x50 act as a third receiver for the ZR3? I'm wondering if the x50 picks up a laser signal, will it fire the ZR3's transmitters, or do the ZR3's transmitters/receivers only have the ability to trigger the transmitter?

According to my ZR3 manual if the ZR3 is hooked to the detector and the detector detects laser the ZR3 will activate jamming.

    That's cool.
I wish the V-1 could do that...

Hmmm, I wonder if something could be rigged up?

New to the forums here and was wondering the same about the X50, which I already own.

If I buy the ZR3 and connect it to the X50, will the X50, mounted high on the windshield supercede the ZR3's laser detector? If so, this wouldn't be optimal as the X50 cannot be as good of a laser detector given its mounting position. The ZR3 detectors mounted in point blank range of the laser beam would be logically much better.

This question was posted at some point in the past. The answer, IIRC, was that the Escort just acts as a third receiving point. So if just the ZR3 catches a signal, it jams. If just the X50 receives a signal, it jams. And if both receive a signal, again it jams. If you have both you should be able to mount the X50 wherever you like.

    Brick,

I called Escort prior to reading this and they confirmed exactly what you've written, which is great news!

The Zr3 will probably do better then the Blinder M20 because the M20 only has 2 jammer heads. With the Zr3 it's wise to put the rear jammer on the front license plate, so you'll have 3 transmitters on the front. Cops never shoot your car from the rear.

    JTW,

I'm beginning to think (based on your posts) that you still have something against Blinder. Seems to me you rarely miss an opportunity to say another laser jammer could be better.

    For example on this post:
You did not mention that you can put 3 Blinder heads on the front of the car and this would be better than all 3 ZR3 heads on the front. 3 Blinder heads cost less than the ZR3 and Blinder jams better.
