Default Veil - Upgrade headlights to compensate?

So, my upcoming Veil application will cause the headlights to be dimmer. Good for cop encounters, but bad for stray-brown-cow-in-the-middle-of-the-road-at-night encounters.

I'm thinking slash planning to upgrade my headlamps to Silverstar 9007's. Anybody else done this? Did it pretty much make up for the loss due to the Veil? If not, what did you do, and how did it come out?

    Thanks!

On the Veil site, it says in the FAQs that it does not reduce light output from the headlights but does cause them to appear more bluish-violet at night.

I have it on my headlights and have not noticed a difference, but I have done nothing but daytime and city driving since putting it on.

I've had Veil on for about 2 months, and have done some night driving since. I have not noticed a difference in brightness either; I don't think there is much difference, so I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm glad y'all aren't noticing much difference. I guess I'll go with the Silverstars and call it a good trade-off.

My guess is that Veil shades the red-to-infrared end of the spectrum. So, you'd expect to see the blue end stay at essentially the same level, but the red, longer wavelength light be attenuated. There may not be much of a drop, but to say that there's zero drop may not fully capture the situation....

I dont have Veil but recently changed to silverstars. From outside the car they dont look like HID's (not so much blue, more white) but while driving at night I definately notice a difference in vision.

Finally got the Veil on tonight! I upgraded to the Silverstars at the same time, and I don't believe there's gonna be a problem with light output. The silverstars seem to put out more light on the blue end of the spectrum, where the veil wouldn't logically have much of an effect.

The veil looks good now, but I'll be afraid to look at it tomorrow morning!

Well how does the veil look?? the silver stars look good once installed however when they were in my wife's car they had a tendency to pop and also the coating that they put on the buld started to flake off and once this happen's you'll have all these little particles in your head lamp.
