Default photocopy plate with VEIL/Lasershield *vs* VEILED plexi PICS

    http://community.webshots.com/album/398710492hiaqZW

being unsatisfied with the way my old set up looked like, i decided to try the photocopied plate method. i walked into kinko's, copied it for 89 cents, lamenated it for 4 bucks, and cut it to size for free. took about 15 minutes. got home, lightly veiled the lamenation, and when it dried i mounted it with my lasershield.

old set up-real plate, lasershield, veiled plexiglass

new setup-lamenated photocopy of plate with light coat of veil, lasershield

let me know what you guys think...

I went in and handed them my plate, but he said he couldnt hit the copy button legally, but I could use one of their machines as long as I hit the button. So I just left. I live in washington btw.

Very nice I've noticed that the paper only plates dont look good once they get wet. I do wonder how much the plastic will contribute to the reflectivity of the plate.

yeah he would only make me a black and white if i wanted him to do it. so i did it myself....

the plastic cant be nearly as reflective as a license plate, especially to IR sources with the light coat of Veil i have on it.

Can you seal it from the back somehow to prevent water from getting in?

its sealed front and back. the lamenating machine just melts two pieces of plastic together to form a seal around the paper. should be completely water tight. hasnt rained since i put it on, but as soon as it does i'll let you guys know how it holds up.

although, it has been very humid the last few days and it looks fine.

Good idea! If a cop is far from it he will never see the difference and it reflects way less than the original plate.

Just make sure you cut out the paper you printed the plate on, then lammenate, then cut agian, but leave a small plastic trim. It WILL NOT leak.
