Default this will probaby get me banned......

I haven't gotten veil yet. I just traded my 01 cobra for a 05 avalanche. Love the truck but my blinder m20 won't cut it alone.

Here's my question......is veil just like house stain? Makes me wonder what coating my headlights with stain would do.........I know the veil guy will say hell no but...........

Veil is a special coating designed to absorb near-infrared light like what lidar uses, while remaining transparent to visible light. Simply staining your headlights likely won't have the same effect, and will more than likely darken your headlights to illegal and unusable levels.

Stain will damage your headlights if they are plastic composite and it will definitely do a number on any painted surfaces it comes into contact with....
    Don't even try it!

If you look up the patent for Veil you can see more or less how it is made. Certainly not house stain. As stated above, it is specific for a narrow range of light. I'd guess if you're willing to mix up and sell (illegally, in violation of the patent) a few hundred batches you could make it cheaper than buying.

Where can I obtain the Patent on this?

I am a materials scientist (engineer) and am curious about the chemical formula or composition of the Veil. This would be awesome to see how it works!!

    Thanks~
