    Default My G4 install

Here's a shot after the first coat:

Here are 2 shots after the second coat:

Please let me know what you think, and if there's anything I can do to make it better. In NY, it is illegal for me to have plate covers, so I tried VEIL on my plate. On a side note, I passed a local cop this afternoon, and he DID look at my plate...didn't stop me though...

    Looks good to me!

I didn't do a second coat - and after seeing yours, I'm glad, as I fear it would have been too dark for my tastes.

    But yours does look sweet!

Thanks! I can't WAIT to be tagged by LIDAR now...not that I'm looking for trouble, mind you.

Even with VEIL on the plate, is it supposed to be visible like that with a camera flash???

    ^ That's a good catch....

I dunno...your plate does still seem awful "flashy."

Any comments from The VEIL Guy?

way too thick. you are killing your light output.

The flash test is for non-veiled ONLY.

I hate to say this... I agree, you went a bit too heavy on that.

I live in NY (CNY: Syracuse area). Actually I will be in the Buffalo area tomorrow (for a wedding). So I have a good idea of the LEO's here, and trust me you went too heavy: You wont last long, you will get pulled over. You should have left it at the first coat of Veil... IMO it looked good and would have been a great application.

They can pull you over for your license plate like that... nay they WILL pull you over, they have the plate cover law in NY but they also have the law where you must keep them cleaned/washed to a reasonable extent. They will give you a dirty license plate infraction for that (Trust me).

I would look for lasershield, or a much lighter coat of Veil for the LP, but go much lighter on the Veil especially on the headlights. Hate to say that because it looks like a great application, but from knowing many LEO's in NY, I can tell you that sooner or later, that application will bit you from behind. Please take this as constructive criticism though...

I'd actually shy away from the LaserShield.....it looks too noticeable as a "plate cover." It actually look, from closer than about 30 ft., like a "hazy" plate cover, lending the lettering a fuzzy look, and finer graphics (of which the NY plate is heavy on) somewhat obscured.

I'd either just use VEIL G4 (remembering that "thicker/more coats" does not necessarily mean more protection - it's that initial coating that gives the most effect), or use 3M Clear Duct Tape (and if pulled-over, say that you put it on to prevent your plate from rusting, having heard from the Internet that it works, and that your previous plate rusted and looked bad on the car, assuming the rest of your car is in good cosmetic shape), but that you can pull it off if the officer didn't think it was appropriate.

As a final alternative, consider going with a laminated, heavy-stock, quality color photocopy:

    - whose detail will be much, much better than the CR8APL8 replica.

Thank you for all the comments and critiques. Having never used VEIL before, I knew I would probably fudge things up somewhere. Taking everyone's comments into consideration, I stripped the old VEIL from the car, minus the side markers, and reapplied VEIL to the headlights. For your consideration...

    Driver side angle shot:

    Passenger side marker shot 1:

    Passenger side marker shot 2:

Last, but not least, the FRONT shot of the car (if I ca get it to work properly):

LMK what you think. Again, all comments & criticisms are welcome.

Why bother with side markers unless you drive sideways. I think it's just asking for trouble.
