Does anyone know how long G4 has been available on the market?

Longer than that. It was starting to be sold around August 08 because I remember when we tested it at GOL 08.

I thought it was backordered until about October, but it could have been August.

May I ask why you are asking?

You can tell if your Veil is G4 or not... if thats what you want to know.

^ I think that this time-line is very accurate.

My first-application/initial-impression G4 posting dates back to late-August of '08.

I have a similar "just ordered/shipped" entry (from BRD.com's pre-order) for the first week of August, and so had others.

The VEIL Guy's first G4 "enters regular production" entry was dated 7/25.

It seems that the first of these were received and applied in the second week of August, so that time-line would place it about 6 months or so.

There are two sellers, one claims to be an "authorized" retailer of Veil. This is directly taken from the seller's page:

"* We are "Authorized Dealers" of all of the merchandise sold on our website!
    * We will show you "Proof" of our dealer status upon special request!
    * All of the packages are "Factory-Sealed" with Serial Number included!
    * We "Special-Order" all of these electronic merchandise every day directly from their respective manufacturers and representatives!

    * DO NOT BUY any product at wholesale prices or from "Unauthorized Dealers". The problems that you will come across in the future is not worth the few dollars that you will save upfront. Most of these products are either "Used" or "Serial # are removed".
    * Also, DO NOT BUY a product below MAP (Minimum Advertising Price) because the Manufacturer WILL NOT HONOR the Warranty for you. In addition, we cannot offer "Free Shipping" unless we added the costs of the shipping on top of MAP. Otherwise, selling a product below MAP violates the manufacturer's dealer and internet selling policy! The prices that we offer on the Internet is the LOWEST PRICE we can Advertise for our customers in order to QUALIFY for the Manufacturer Warranty! Manufacturer will ASK for PROOF OF PURCHASE that shows your purchase the item at or above MAP. We will include the appropriate receipt with your package (for factory warranty purposes)!!!
    * We CAN sell a product below MAP if the manufacturer does not have MAP policy. We can also sell a product under MAP if the product was used for demonstration purposes or if the customer returned a package due to change of mind. We have already charged these customers 10% restocking fee.

Please Note: The ONLY reason we are not listed under the manufacturer's dealer link is because we do not have a large physical retail store. Instead, we work with many different manufacturers and have many different warehouses in United States, Asia and Europe. We also specialize in "International Shipping" due to our extensive knowledge of foreign customs and market. We have currently shipped products to 85 countries (about half of them on Ebay and the other half offline and on our retail/wholesale website >>> [www ElectronicsNetwork101 com] If you have any specific questions regarding importing a particular product to your country, then please notify us prior to making a purchase! We will gladly answer all of your questions at our earliest convenience. : )"

I personally, I'm not sure how effective a warranty claim made with Veil would be in getting any problem with the coating resolved, hence my research on this forum. But I definitely want to be sure I am buying the genuine product if I am spending $100 on a coating that I need to periodically reapply to my vehicles...

This is the Internet, they can claim WHATEVER they want. Contact the Veil guy and ask him if it's legit. I'm betting after he laughs he'll say no. Didn't he have a warning on his website saying NOT to buy any of his products off of e-scam? Or was that another manufacture? Choose wisely.
