With both Viel and the Laser Shield, about how much time should I expect to have to react if ever painted with LIDAR?

React as fast as possible, and pray that it's enough. In some cases, it might not be. But nothing is 100%, not even a jammer.

Too many variables. As a general rule the further away the more time to get a speed lock. At first alert or sign of laser lock'em up until you are well within legal speed.

On our "worst case" vehicle, V1 + VEIL was consistently enough protection against the Stalker LZ1 and Laser Atlanta in Stealth Mode, with the other guns it wasn't so lucky. But this was "worst case", on other vehicles that are more difficult to target with laser, you might have better luck.

You've gotten some good advice here.

I would only add that Veil's effectiveness (as all countermeasures) varies from vehicle to vehicle depending on different factors such as shape, size, and color of your vehicle, police laser gun used, initial targeting distance and aim points.

Cars like Jim's do especially well Veil as does Sethy's despite being metallic silver (the easiest color for laser to "see").

theStaton was one of the first to document (with video, to our knowledge)
outbraking laser with a Blue Audi S4 and a Mitsu Evo with only Veil and a Valentine V1 detector.
