Default Need some help with Veil

I put the Veil on my chrome grill and headlights.I used painter's tape to mask off the area. The problem is it leeched under the tape. Now its stained on the silver paint.I tried alcohol and acetone but the stain is still there.

    Any other suggestions?

Ouch, had that happen on my truck. I had a drip come off the applicator sponge and it got onto the bumper. I tried to get it off quickly, but it never came out. Paint and Veil don't seem play well together. I believe the kit mentions this. I have since switched to airbrush for Veil applications.

Amonia seems to work halfway decent, though I have stains that never did com out this way.

Here's a way. BUT BE VERY CAREFUL DOING THIS AND DON'T HOLD ME RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY SCREWUPS.

This worked on my wife's gold 'bru years ago. Get some rubbing alcohol and add to it a very little bit of carb cleaner and I mean a little bit. Mix the solution together and then dip a rag tip into the solution. Rub/Swirl the damp portion of the rag directly around the issue. The leeched material should disappear and be removed from the clear coat.

NOTE: DONT USE CARB CLEANER IN ANY HIGH AMOUNT AS IT CAN DAMAGE CLEAR COATS/PAINT. Try a little bit and work ever so slightly up in quantity of CC to rubbing alcohol ratios.

    This worked like a charm!

    frank,

did you try increasing the percentage of carb-like cleaner in the mix (a little bit at a time?). as you do, the residual material should come of that much more quickly. use a white cloth or paper towel to confirm.

if this still doesn't work. perhaps we can come up with something more effective for you. pm me with your contact information. if you are close to us, perhaps i'll come out and visit to see what we can do for you.

Try using insect remover + rubbing. Accidentally find out that I could easily remove veil with Sonax insect remover. See my video in youtube.

    Thnx for your time.

I did try increasing the mixture.I tried straight from the can.Nothing has worked in getting the stain off the paint.I tried some other solvents from work,it helped some but not enough.Luckily nothing has taking the paint off yet.I had a suggestion about using polishing compound.I might try that and mineral spirits tomorrow.
