Default Have you ever seen this?

My dad was on his way to Missouri and said that there were 3 18 wheelers parked on the side of road sideways. The first one said speed trap ahead. Then a few hundred more feet another one and then a little down the way another one. On the other side it was the same thing when he was coming back but only 2 of them.

I guess this is one way to get people to slow down.

Obstruction of what? If it makes people slow down, it's a safety benefit. It only "obstructs" revenue.

Obstruction of justice would be jamming the radar, or otherwise stopping the LEO from stopping/ticketing a speeder. If cars slow down due to the warning, they aren't speeders anymore, they're legal, and there's no justice to be served.

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

In some cases, cops have tried to press obstruction of justice charges. But they have been mostly unsuccessful.

Exactly. You have the 1st amendment right to free speach. If you were arrested for it, you could possibly sue.

    A couple of questions...

Was this in Missouri where it happened?

How were the 18 wheelers turned sideways on the road? Were they on private property?

Was it really a speed trap?

I think I have heard of this. Apprently this town is making a ton of money off of traffic tickets. The locals are tired of the cops running potenial customers out of town so they set up those trailers.
