Default Michgian State Police - unmarked cruisers!

Just a heads up for those traveling in Michigan. You may know to recognize the standard State Police cruisers...

But beware of a new unmarked State Police cruiser! It's a Crown Vic, but it's the same brown color as the Ohio State Police, so it can blend in real good with farmland. Look out! I passed one in the median the other day (after picking up his Ka about a full mile out while he was shooting the opposite direction hiding in the weeds). I thought for a second it was Ohio and I'm like "What the crap?" But it's the new unmarked cruisers the MSP is using.

They are classics that's for sure. I love the blue color and the single beacon. I actually think it's pretty sharp looking...I love those vehicles.

Looks cheesy if you ask me!
What's with the stop sign on the hood? does it light up or something...

These cars are cheesy. Not sure if I could keep a straight face with the cop if he pulled me over.

My grandfather was County Sheriff of Montcalm County (Michigan) way back in the 70's. His car had the huge single cherry. I always thought it made an otherwise nice looking car look silly.

All their budget money went into a nice paintjob and hood ornaments, instead of proper lights on top
I would think that it's not as bright or attention grabbing as the common setup... a little less safe?

I don't know if it's "not safe." There is plenty of other stealth lighting on the car, so it's not like you can't see them when they're on the side of the road. Also, their teltale single beacon is a dead give away at a distance.

A lot of people think they look cheezy. Personally, I like the look with the single beacon. Simple, yet stylish. Somewhat retro, yet still modern. Oh vell...maybe it's just me.
