I have been reading on this board, and I was wondering what ever happened to the supposed KA in PA? Does it really exist, and if so, what radar guns are the PSP using?

Ive heard that the PASP is "testing" a few Ka guns. I'm sorry I don't have any more info; im not sure if they are ticketing motorists with them yet.
I have never been clocked by a Ka gun, but my Bel RX65 did beep Ka at an empty (parked with driver out of the car and flashing lights on) PASP cop cruzer once. Don't know if it was a radar gun on in the car or not.
I would appreciate more info on this as well. But for now I'd reccomend keeping Ka on and heed all Ka warnings.
I guess we will have to find out now won't we.
... Still no more encounters with Ka radar in PA.
Anybody know anything?
Here's a list of the currently approved speed detection devices in PA: http://www.pabulletin.com/secure/dat...6-52/2576.html
In summary, the list is composed of units from Kustom, Decatur, Applied Concepts (Stalker), and MPH Industries. In my experience from the '90s on, I've only seen K band units from Kustom (2 piece & handheld) and Decatur (handheld) in use. Looking at the list, it seems like the only Ka band units listed are Stalkers
In any case, Ka is deadly enough that is doesn't matter what gun it is!
Are the Stalkers instant on KA?
Here's their website: http://www.stalkerradar.com/products.shtml Take a look at the pictures there and become familiar with the antennae in case you encounter some Ka.Are the Stalkers instant on KA?
From info presented there, The Dual SL is K or Ka and the DSR is Ka only. Every RADAR they (and any other manufacturer these days) sell is instant on, no matter what band. The original Stalker (a handheld unit) is no longer sold but IIRC it was (or one of) the first Ka unit(s.)
Is X band used in PA?
