    Radar detectors are illegal now...!!! make sure police doesn't see it...as you can get fined.

    They use mostly LIDAR and video cars...you get pulled over after few km's. If you pay within 3 days the fine is reduced by 50%...you can pay at the local post office.

    12)Latvia:

    Ka band only (Stalker ATR and Dual), mostly used from moving patrol cars in conjunction with video recorders. Majority are in constant transmission mode but instant-on situations happen too.

    Radar detectors are illegal to use but RDDs are not in use, and generally speaking the rule is not enforced unless RD is in plain view

    Local police now uses 4 Multanova MultaradarC - K band

    - Traffipax SpeedoPhot, 7 pieces documented until now, working only stationary in police cars, marked or unmarked ones.
    - Gatso Dynamic radar, fixed camera, 2 on Cosereni village, 3 on Pitesti town;
    - Unknow type of radar, perhaps build by a local firm, 3 installed in Tureni village in Transilvania.

    Detector are legal, jammers are forbidden.

    Usually built in cars, mainly Skoda Fabia, Skoda Felicia, VW Passat, VW Golf, Audi S4 - used either as stationary or mobile. Tripods are rarely used.

    As radars used by the police have a very low output power they are only reliably detectable by:
    - Beltronics 945, 965, 995, 975 - ONLY with special firmware (Ka narrow)
    - Target 550, Bel RX65Euro(with 34.0GHz narrow frequency)
    - Valentine one set to Euro mode
    - STi-R looks promising too

    Lidar: approved devices:
    Lavet (=PLIII with an Omympus camera), FamaLaserIII (PLIII with a video camera), LTI 20-20 UltraLyte Compact MicroDigicam, Riegl FG21-P with a camera

    Fixed speed traps fitted with Ramer-7 or AD9 radars, 34.00GHz. One is on the 108km of the D1 highway ( www.highways.sk/indexE.html )
    Automatic stationary vascar - white lines across the road, cameras above each lane @ start and finish (planned & approved for use, currently installed when entering Bratilava from the D2 highway)

    I saw in Elblaw also Gatso fixed 24 Ghz poles, also some local type of fixed camera's based on a 24 Ghz source elsewhere, like on the road from Katowice to Wisla, this system is also on a tripod.

    Police now are starting to use Ka-band with video recording, BUT they are still illegal..!!!...they don't have the certification from the local lab to use them for speed enforcment.

    Comment to the Czech republic radars:

    Radar detectors for US expect V1 doesn't work correctly - you need Ka narrow only, because czech radars have very small output and most of them use frequency 34,0 and lower.

    Only V1 with Euro mode or special firmware for Beltronics works here correctly. Ka wide is too slow + algorithm for alert in frequency just below 34,0 doesn't work right - alert for radar is too late

    Holland update:

    Multaradar C: 24.100 ghz (low power device, hard to detect with common detectors like Bel 966 and Bel 975, good detection with Bel STi)

    on a tripod and built in cars.
