    Default Car and Driver Article

On air enforcement in Ohio. It's in the current issue (April 07). It is very interesting and I would recommend buying this issue if you live in Ohio, and for others that want to be informed.

They have 15 planes dedicated to speed enforcement!

I haven't heard of any air enforcement here in central Indiana in almost a year! Ground based laser traps with multiple chase cars seem to be the preferred large-scale speed trap now.

Edit: not sure if this is the right forum to post this. I was going to post in the general area, but it is not about radar.

Yeah it's the right area. Usually most region-specific stuff goes in here...

very good article. I do disagree with the fact he said he could not pick out make or models... My roommate should have his private pilot finished in a month, so I'll go up with him and check it out at 2K feet.

^ I think that may be both a legality thing as well as one of reliable/repeateable identifications.

I actually held an "odd job" one summer as an undergrad, "counting cars."

This was done using airborne high-speed photographs of complex highway interchanges, and I would literally track each vehicle through certain waypoints of the interchange.

Yes, I could identify make/model, but I think that's due to my being a car-nut.

I think that legally, a good lawyer may be able to punch holes through that kind of specificity, which is why they may limit themselves to the more general descriptions.

I'll have to check out the article.

Two officers have to show up.

I find the lane changers a strange twist. NH made a point to mention that the vehicle never changed lanes in the stops I've heard about.

To weave (controlled) over a long distance would lower your average speed.

I have no idea what the Ohio article distances were. The longer the better for the LEO IMHO.

They were for 1 mile with 1/4 mile intervals.

They said that to hold up in court you only need one leg, but the officer usually uses at least 2 if not the entire mile.
