So I've been driving that new I-355 extension from I-80 all the way up to the original starting location since it opened November 11th. It's been pretty barren and most seem to drive it at least 75mph (PSL is 55). Any LEOs I have picked up have been all Ka or K band.
Last night around 10:00 I was driving south and got just past the Boughton toll, which is the last toll before the link to I-55. I was chugging along about 75 with a lot of people behind me, practically all moving to the right lanes to merge onto I-55. Rounding the slight curve just before the I-55 ramps I get lit up by Laser, single LEO sitting in the U-turn spot there. I slammed on my breaks so fast that it had to be obvious to him that I had a radar detector. I didn't see anyone outside of the car with a Laser gun. He didn't come after me though even though I was obviously everyone else's rabbit. ops:
What I find most interesting though is that I speed a lot on various Chicagoland expressways, I-355, I-80, I-57 into I-94, I-88 into I-290, I-294. And I have never been lit up by Laser on any of these expressways until last night. Either I have been really lucky or perhaps they are beginning a wider rollout?
