Default Radar bands used in Colorado

Does anyone know which radar bands are used in Colorado?

I live near Denver and am thinking about gettting a RD but don't know which to get. I thought I'd better find out what is happening with radar in the area I live in before I make my decision.

    Thanks much!

Radar is radar, there is 3 bands. X, K, and KA. Depending on your driving habits look at the top 3, cant go wrong with any of them

I have read on this forum that some bands aren't used very often in some states. I was wondering what the status of Colorado was, i.e., is X band used here? How about the others? Laser? How often?

All modern RD's include X, K, and KA. Im not to sure with the V1 but you can disable certain bands on the X50 and RX65.

All of them are capable of giving you fair warning to radar being used if you know what you are doing and how to react to different threats or situations.

I bet laser is used somewhere in the state. An RD is not going to give you fair warning to a laser hit. Once your hit your had pretty much. Giving different circmstances you might get lucky. For laser you will need a reputable laser jammer and a mighty can of Veil.

I've been using my bel980 for about 2 years in colorado. So far, i have come in contact with K, Ka, and laser (once).

I would have to say that K is rare. I only encountered it on colorado streets twice from a moving police vehicle (instant on). Ka is the most common. It goes off for me in the city of parker daily, where the cops and hiding in the bushes.

I have only had one encounter with laser (where my detector alerted me), but near my school (C470, and sixth avenue), there is a big big speed trap there all the time and people are pulled over every morning i pass there by bike cops. I saw the cop actually aim with a laser unit, but he never hit the button all the times i passed right next to him (smart bastard).

As for C-470 in the morning at about 7:00 am , it is copless from the I25 interchange to sixth avenue. I have never had a KA alert go off in the middle of the road there.

I'd say get an x50 escort and you should be fine , that is if you cannot afford valentine. If you can afford valentine, get it because of its ultimate kick ass laser detection. Also throughout the different video tests here, i have noticed that x50 laser detection is better than rx-65's. (NO FLAME WARS please...)

I lived in the Springs for a couple of years and one thing they do have is a lot of under cover officers. As for the bands pretty standard, but then again the speed limit is 75.
