I've been doing alot of research about Laser Jammers and Radar Detectors in general and debating on whether I want to purchase one or not. Was just curious if there is any way to determine what is in use in a particular area?
I live in Lubbock, TX and it's not on any of the lists that I have seen. I'm mostly driving around in town. We have lots of Motorcycle cops that like to hang out on my route to work and I've seen them shooting what I believe to be laser. From looking at pictures on the GoL site, it appears that they are using Stalker LZ-1s, but I've never been able to get close enough to really see them in detail. What prompted me to look into getting a jammer/detector setup was that the speed limit on the road I take each morning to work changes from 45 down to 40, but most everyone keeps going 45-50mph. If you slow down to 40, people tailgate you and honk so I tend to keep with the flow of traffic. But there have been many times I've seen people get pulled over that were right next to me and going the exact same speed and I would really rather not get a ticket for going 5 over. I also drive a burnt orange Nissan 350z, which I'm pretty sure probably makes me more of a target than the guy next to me in station wagon. My uncle was a LEO in the town I grew up in, and the first time I went back home and he saw my car he said "You better not ever speed in that car, I know for a fact all the guys here as well as highway patrols will single you out".
I also travel on Interstate 20 to Dallas/Ft. Worth area quite a bit. Was interested to know what Texas Highway Patrol are using.
So, was just wondering if they have to make this info publicly available at all?
