Default Any MA, NH, ME tickets for laser shielded/Veiled license plate?

Has anyone received a ticket in MA, NH, ME for having a laser shielded cover over their license plate? What about a plate with Veil on it?

Most people put the covers on to avoid red light cameras but the above states don't use such cameras (except to catch toll booth/transponder violators). In states using red light cameras Leo's have become more aware of plate covers and why they are used and may be more prone to giving out tickets if used.

I read in another thread that someone got a ticket for a dirty green MA plate. I have one green plate left and it is very faded almost to the point of illegibility, but we have never gotten a ticket for it

The reason I am interested is that I put an OnTrack laser shield on my front plate, but it is pretty obvious. I think the laser shield is more effective than veiling a plate, but veiling is stealthier as I guess it just makes the plate look dirty. I might try a CR8APL8 again, but I was not very happy with the last one I got as the fonts were off. I was unaware of their satisfaction guarantee and anyway now I have a new plate. I don't they can duplicate my current plate because it has a special veteran symbol.

Since some MA cars don't even have a front plate, how diligent are MA police in stopping people with plate covers or dirty plates on the front? How diligent are policy in other states stopping an out of stater for plate covers or dirty plates. I am going to leave the rear with just an uncovered/unveiled official plate.

Has anyone been stopped for a plate cover or dirty plate in MA, NH, or ME?

    funny you should mention that.....

I actually was stopped for that exact reason 3 weeks ago in NH on 93 south. The cop had someone pulled over then pulled into traffic, cut across 3 lanes and stopped me (while not speeding.....thank you V1). He runs up to my car and gives me a talk about how these prevent him from reading my plate, etc. Then he issues a warning (a little orange paper) that i have to sign and mail back to the SP. These are not veil'ed but rather were stock aftermarket plate covers. Odd huh?

NH is strict about plates being clean/visible and nothing covering them. I was pulled over for having a regular lightly tinted (bought at a store) plate cover and was told to remove it. I asked if even the clear ones are ok and he said you shouldn't have anything covering your plate. This was in Nashua.

I'm sure this type of thing varies by the officer, but I would bet the NH SP would be more strict about it.

This is the same exact thing that happned to me....these were lightly tinted (nothing you could notice during the daytime) that I bought at an autoparts store. From the officer's speech he gave me, you'd think I put a solid black cover over it.

Wow. I'm glad I asked as I assumed covers, like a laser shield would not be a problem. i was also thinking that Nh and ME cops would not be that familiar with what MA allowed and would have to give full faith and credit to what was allowed.

I still don't have a good feel for how "dirty" the new Veil G4 will make a plate look. I would really liked to have had a better idea first before plunking down $100. If it is really bad I guess I would have to remove it so I would be out the hundred bucks.

I've had a Laser Shield on my front plate (NH) for years and have never had any trouble. But then it's pretty hard to notice from a distance, as it's not shiny.

Shiny or tinted covers, or anti-camera covers are more likely to cause issues as they're more noticeable.

I've been thinking about getting some veil since I am delaying my jammer purchase. But I don't want to spend $100 and have lots leftover. Wanna split a can?

I just ordered a can this afternoon, but yeah I'd like to go halfsies. For the hell of it I ordered the combo with a laser shield as I don't know how bad it's gonna look on the plate. I was thinking of using the laser shield on the plate of one of my other cars, but you could have it if you want it. Only one place still had the G4 in stock. I went for 3 day shipping but did not get a shipping confirmation yet.

You have a BMW right, or at least it looks like you use one for your avatar? I have an '08. I am reluctant to put it on the headlights of any of my cars. In fact I am reluctant to put it on my license plate because they say it looks like crap. But I think with the right stuff it's completely removable so I may try it.

I can't tell how dark it makes the lenses from the pictures, nor how much it reduces the light output. How about you try it first and I'll check yours out?

It says there is enough to do 8 - 10 vehicles so there should be plenty even if we split it in half, particularly as I am not doing headlights.

I also have a request in to CR8APL8 for a special plate. I am waiting for them to send me the artists workup, but I don't think they're gonna be able to make it indistinguishable enough. I ordered one before but the font was too different. My current plate has a graphic but they say they can duplicate it.
