Has anyone received a ticket in MA, NH, ME for having a laser shielded cover over their license plate? What about a plate with Veil on it?
Most people put the covers on to avoid red light cameras but the above states don't use such cameras (except to catch toll booth/transponder violators). In states using red light cameras Leo's have become more aware of plate covers and why they are used and may be more prone to giving out tickets if used.
I read in another thread that someone got a ticket for a dirty green MA plate. I have one green plate left and it is very faded almost to the point of illegibility, but we have never gotten a ticket for it
The reason I am interested is that I put an OnTrack laser shield on my front plate, but it is pretty obvious. I think the laser shield is more effective than veiling a plate, but veiling is stealthier as I guess it just makes the plate look dirty. I might try a CR8APL8 again, but I was not very happy with the last one I got as the fonts were off. I was unaware of their satisfaction guarantee and anyway now I have a new plate. I don't they can duplicate my current plate because it has a special veteran symbol.
Since some MA cars don't even have a front plate, how diligent are MA police in stopping people with plate covers or dirty plates on the front? How diligent are policy in other states stopping an out of stater for plate covers or dirty plates. I am going to leave the rear with just an uncovered/unveiled official plate.
Has anyone been stopped for a plate cover or dirty plate in MA, NH, or ME?
