    Default Houston Rolling speedtraps.

    For Houston speeders

After a full 3 months of observation I feel secure in this analysis.

Do not speed on I-10 outbound M-F and inbound/outbound Sat-Sun
    Be extremely careful on 59 South M-F Inbound/outbound Sat-Sun

There were three speeding Scions that narrowly escaped getting clipped this afternoon on 59 South. They pretty much hit the seam while HPD was loading the chase cars on the SW freeway. They will never know how close they got to getting nailed for 90 in a 60. The spotter car had them ID'd with plate numbers and everything but none of the chase cars were on the freeway yet. Lucky, Lucky, Lucky . . .

Confirmed laser hit, HPD patrol car shooting laser on 59 heading North between Westairport and Bissonet ( right in the middle where Beltway 8 merges into 59 North. Mind you this was a night time it happened exactly at 7:45, I found it very hard to believe...

Nice! HPD is shooting at night. That should make some nice VIDs

These are the ones I focus on. HPDs TAC channels

    460.3750 B2 123.0 Tactical 1
    460.5250 B3 123.0 Tactical
    460.0750 B4 123.0 Tactical 3
    465.3750 B6 123.0 Tactical 2
    460.4000 B9 123.0 CID/Tactical

    I also monitor these
    460.3500 A7 123.0 Operations
    460.2250 A8 123.0 Car-to-Car

Since I also use my scanner to find out about accident locations and road hazards I tend to let it scan everything. Then if I hear anything specific I'll hold on a channel until I get a cross street.

I could be wrong, but I saw multiple cars getting pulled over on 59 southbound. At first I saw an unmarked beige ford Taurus, I think it was a decoy alerting the officers ahead. There were 4 marked cars like a mile after I passed a beige Taurus parked on the shoulder, the 4 patrol cars were distributed 1/4 mile between Beechnut and Westairport.

Yep that's one of them. They are especially fond of the Taurus for some reason. They use a gold, blue, silver and black one. Lately they've been using only three chase cars. I haven't seen five or more used in a while. Today after lunch I saw two working but never saw a third until I saw him shooting laser on the right shoulder. Non-issue for me since I was in the left lane.

One result of these rolling speedtraps I've observed lately is a severe outbreak of Left Lane Hogs. I suppose it's one way people are passively stating they're displeasure at the strict 10 over policing strategy but since none of them know whether a rolling speedtrap is operating or not it sux when I know the road is clear and I just want them to get the fk out of the way. Fortunately a lot of people do get over when they see me charging up on them but not all of them and almost never the ones that are creating a fence across all lanes of traffic.

exactly. When I picked up some friends from Germany at the airport over the holidays I jokingly told them. "Here in the states we pass on the right"
