Speeding around 80MPh in a 55 zone will cost you about $350-$400 by the time you pay for the fine and traffic school. The fine for a jammer for the first offense is $25 as a fix-it ticket. A second offense is $163. I'm not a math wizard but if I had to pick between $25 and $400 or $163 and $400, it is a simple choice. Bump your speed up another 10 MPH and you are saving even more money. If you don't qualify for traffic school and your insurance goes up for a moving violation then you are really saving some big bucks.
Am I missing anything here? I have read the vehicle code and researched the fine fee schedules. I don't see where it can cost you more than $163 for the violation. Has anyone been busted in California for a jammer and what was your experience?
For a state that will charge you $3,800 for the "Unlawful operation of a farm labor vehicle" the $163 fine for a jammer seems quite reasonable!
