Default Can and will Cops use Laser at Night? NY-87

Hey, I was just wondering if cops could use laser at night, and more specifically if they will on 87 through new york.

    Thanks

They absolutely can, and they absolutely do. Inclement weather is your best indicator that laser isn't being touched.

The technology is out there, most of the laser guns in use by PDs have the night capability BUT it's up to each PD or traffic officers to use it after sunset... and about that road 87, you realize that the best thing is to ask THEM about that

Yes, they sure do - once they even shot me with laser, and then after I had passed, used instant on KA, and nailed the car ahead of me after he sped up..he didn't even see it coming, gotta love V1.

yeah watch i-87 thats where i lost my speeding ticket virginity the second day i had gotten my car, when i started college. i played stupid like i just learned how to drive (i actually did) and couldnt look at the road and the speedometer while driving and must have lost track of speed. he made me get out the car as he prolly smelled a sweet scent coming out of my car  and made me walk to his passenger side where i looked thru some type of scope that had a red dot in the middle of it and he had me aim it at a car and press the trigger as he obtained readings to prove to me that he his gun worked and im an iddiot.

oh yeah he clocked me going 90 in a 65 while i peaked at the top of a hill

    Default Sighting LIDAR

in the dark is pretty tricky.

I'll bet it can be done with the superimposed info on the screen, but the HUD accuracy of plate vs headlight and other dimensional issues are out the window as the detail in the dark through a sight 1:1 is poor at best.

Even with a magnification of 7:1 the sighting is hard to do well.
Kinda jittery, not too stable and furthermore the glare from oncoming lights hinders sight. Don't flip your day/night setting on your rearview mirror if you don't believe me. Fatgiue from the side mirrors (light reflection into the eyes) is a similar symptom / phenominon.................

Unless hes' ultra close to you and under some ambient (street light) illumination, no way can you target accurately in the dark.
