If the endless LIDAR traps weren't enough the staties have a new game. They will pull someone over for speeding using RADAR (it's deliberately not LIDAR), however this person isn't their primary target. While they are in the car writing a ticket/warning/etc. they will be looking in the mirror for a car that doesn't move over (the new "Move over" law) and point them over if they don't. Now often cars can't move over, but this is why they run radar. The law requires people to either "move over" OR "slow down". So they will also check the speeds of cars passing as wel. I've seen them with three cars pulled over using this method. Once they have the inital bait car pulled over they can keep it going for hours by just pulling over cars that don't move over. This tactic annoys me, #1 because they aren't running laser so I can't have my jamming fun , and #2 because despite the fact I've always moved over, I think the fact they make a law about it instead of just teaching drivers to is obnoxious. The place I most commonly see this is on Rt. 2 west of Gardner (the article in the T&G reminded me of it. I think I have some video of one of these setups that I'll post if I can find it.
