Default Jail for speeding in N.C.?

I've heard of people being arrested on the spot in N.C. for driving in excess of 100MPH in a 70 zone, but I was wondering if they tend to also arrest those driving 90-95 MPH in 70 zones as well? I knew a Marine who was arrested on the spot for doing 85 MPH in a 55 MPH zone in N.C. so I was just curious how much over you needed to be to go straight to jail vs getting a citation on the side of the road? Anyone know?

I have heard stories like that about VA. But not many about NC, once you get 30mph over the PSL in any state you are in the danger of going to jail.

Sometimes you can get lucky, I got stopped in my 928 once and fully expected to go to jail, just got a good talking to, no ticket or written warning.

What does this topic have to do with Escort?

100+ is considered reckless driving that's why you could get the bracelets. 15+ over will get your licensed suspended for 30 days. You will not automatically get sent to jail for doing 90 in a 70, I've heard them call out 92 in a 65 before. It's a lot easier to write a citation than it is to haul someone to intake while also waiting for a tow truck to pick the car up. Many people who go 100+ don't plan to stop (mainly crotch rockets) or are going so fast they don't realize they're being chased (lame excuse).

I believe anything more than 15 over (may be 20) in NC is a mandatory court appearance. I would not be surprised if 25 to 30 over got you locked up.

Anything over 100 is considered reckless driving, so yes you could definitely go to jail for it.

I was nailed last summer for going 84 in a 70 with IO by SP. I told him that I was going 82 @ least that is what my Cruise was set at. No jail a Verbal warning. I must say that NC SP are truly very good at being covert. I was impressed.

Highly doubt it. Like I said, it's not worth the hassle of cuffing someone, waiting for a tow truck, and then hauling them down to intake. If you're doing 55+ in a school zone, then maybe.
